Founded in 1986, AAPS is an individual membership society of approximately 12,000 pharmaceutical scientists who have joined together to serve the public and their own common professional interests. AAPS is not a trade organization; it is a nonprofit organization that serves as an educational, scientific, and scholarly body. The AAPS Press Room is intended for journalists to gain information on AAPS, stay current with breaking scientific research and trends affecting the industry, and get in touch with experts through the AAPS Pharmaceutical Scientist Expert Center.
AAPS sponsors educational and discussion forums that are free for registered press with proper credentials. Click here to learn more.
Public Policy Statement
AAPS’ public policy positions are developed by the AAPS standing committees in conjunction with the AAPS Department of Public Outreach and approved by the AAPS Executive Council. These are position statements that define official AAPS policy on specific scientific subjects only. Political positions will not be considered.
AAPS provides a dynamic international forum for the exchange of knowledge among scientists to enhance their contributions to health. We offer timely scientific programs, ongoing education, opportunities for networking, and professional development.
Pharmaceutical scientists are instrumental in the discovery and development of innovative drugs that improve health and save lives. Pharmaceutical scientists have a broad base of scientific knowledge and work at pharmaceutical companies; universities; and agencies like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Pharmacopeia, and the National Institutes of Health.
Please refer to the AAPS Pharmaceutical Science Primers for a look at examples of typical activities in the field.
