Short-Term Opportunities | Extended Opportunities
Every pharmaceutical scientist is encouraged to share his or her insight, experience, and dedication to the field by getting involved within AAPS. Volunteering will allow you to:
- Share your knowledge by taking an active role in developing educational opportunities to help others learn and grow.
- Make valuable professional and personal connections by broadening your network and building lasting friendships with other thought leaders.
- Enhance your leadership experience by expanding on skills and roles you may not acquire in your current position.
- Support AAPS' mission to advance the capacity of pharmaceutical scientists to develop products and therapies that improve global health.
Mentoring Breakfast Mentors
AAPS will host its 13th Annual Mentoring Breakfast at the 2017 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Diego on Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00 am–8:30 am in Ballroom 20 Foyer, San Diego Convention Center. This is an informal, interactive event (breakfast provided) that allows for maximum conversation with students and other young professionals who are eager to ask questions and listen to your career advice. This is a wonderful opportunity to help provide direction and guidance for the future leaders of the pharmaceutical sciences. There are no presentations and no formal agenda. As a mentor at the breakfast, the only “qualification” is that you are willing to share your thoughts and opinions pertaining to careers and professional growth within your area(s) of experience and knowledge.
We are now in the process of identifying potential mentors from academia, government, industry, consulting, etc. Can you join us? Please email me at ChutuapeK@aaps.org
by Monday, October 16 with the following:
- Short, updated biography (no more than 1 page).
- Share which of the following best describes your work setting:
- Pharma (Small, Medium, Large)
Resume Review Advisors
We will be offering a Resume Review Service at the 2017 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition. Individuals who want to have their resume reviewed will be matched with a Resume Review Advisor (such as yourself). As best as possible, we try to match you with individuals who are interested in your work setting.
As an advisor, you will receive the name and resume of your matches in advance of the face-to-face consultation to facilitate a more productive and efficient meeting. Your goal will be to act as a hiring manager and offer suggestions for improving the readability, flow and length of the resume, and marketability of the job candidate. Is the resume error free and compelling? You don’t need to be an HR expert! A few concrete suggestions go a long ways and significantly help the individuals seeking advice.
Thirty (30) minute appointments will be pre-scheduled for November 13 at 1:00 pm–4:00 pm, November 14 at 1:00 pm–4:00 pm, and November 15 at 9:00 am–noon. We are asking for a 1-hour commitment (meet with 2 individuals) and welcome any additional time you can spare.
If you are interested in being an advisor, please email ResumeReview@aaps.org
by Friday, October 6, 2017.
